My Savior

Jesus Christ my savior
The one who rescued me from the embers of fire.
He is with me day and night.
He sheltered me on my darkest days.
Showed me the light of happiness.
He is the reason why I am still alive.
He makes me believe in rising up once more when the tides are high.
In Him I find comfort and joy.
Even though I may stray away from Him from time to time,
Somehow I always go back to Him.

Happy Easter Sunday everyone! 🙂

‘Peace be with You’: Believing in Jesus

Hello Everyone:)!

Sorry if I have not posted anything but these past few days have been full of reflection, and being busy that I did not have time to post anything, or there are days when something worth posting has hit me to post about it.
Last Sunday was Easter Sunday and it was such a great and joyful experience seeing many people come to Sunday Mass at St. Angela Merici, mostly because of course it was Easter and many people go to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I enjoyed listening during Mass the beautiful music and the bible story of how Jesus resurrected on the third day.

image

This Sunday, was the second Sunday of Easter which means that its again another day of celebrating our Savior Jesus Christ and how great it is to believe in Him when we have been doubting, or not believing in Him. The Bible story of today’s Mass, is about Thomas one of the disciples who did not believe that Jesus Christ was back and that the rest of the other disciples had seen Him, and believed He was back. It was not until later that Thomas saw Jesus, and invited Thomas to prove his wounds; that in so Thomas upon touching Jesus and seeing his wounds that he believed it was really Jesus Christ himself who came back.

image

When I read this bible story today, it was a story I could relate to because of the many times I had shut down Jesus Christ from my life, there were times when I would not believe that Jesus was with me, watching over me; I would especially feel like that whenever I had a really tough dark moment or day. Believing that Jesus Christ loves me and is always with me during those dark times was, and still is at times a challenge for me.

image

I am learning to believe everyday that Jesus Christ does love so much, and that he is always with me no matter how many times I doubt him; just like Thomas was doubting at first.

“The victory is for those who believe that Sunday is always on the way!”

The God of Fashion

Hello Everyone,

When we feel lonely, worried, or are facing our own problems in life, we tend to turn to materialistic things such as: money, clothes, sex, or other negative things that temporarily satisfy us, they make us feel better and help us forget about our problems for a while. It is time for us to seek Jesus when we feel lost and short on His faith; instead of looking at material things as our Gods to happiness. Learning to recognize Jesus as my savior was something that I learned the hard way because back then I did not know much about Jesus; I was not close to Him as my savior. I would worry a lot about trying to look good by wearing the latest fashion clothes, or only wanting to go to the mall to buy the greatest quality clothes that was kind of expensive. I often wanted to look at materialistic things as my saviors to happiness and false confidence.

The Fashion Idolatry Prayer:
“O fashion, O great redeemer
Save us from our misery
Heal our brokenness
Take away our loneliness
Extinguish our ugliness
Give us value and worth
That we may feel beautiful
And all our problems will disappear
You are our savior and god
And we will purchase you all of our days.”

-(Taken from Fervr.net)

What is Idolatry?
Idolatry means putting more importance in something instead of focusing your whole heart in Jesus Christ as your savior everyday.

How God describes idolatry as:

My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”
-Jeremiah 2:13

We all need God just like we all need the air to be able to breathe. God can give us what we need, only Him, no other thing can replace Him.

Is Fashion your God?

As you think about this, ask yourself these questions:

1. Are you trying to get something from fashion that only Jesus can give?

2. Are you using fashion to try and make yourself feel valuable? Or looking to the infinite value Jesus has given you?

3. Are you using fashion to take away your loneliness? Or looking for the love of Jesus?

“Fashion is a poor God. Jesus is infinitely better.”

Prayer to turn to Jesus:

“Jesus, O great Redeemer
Save us from our eternal misery.
Heal our brokenness
Take away our loneliness
Extinguish our ugliness
You give us value and worth
Now we are beautiful in your eyes
And all our sins will disappear
You are our savior and God
And we will worship you all of our days.”

Why are we able to Believe?

Hello Everyone:),

We are here on earth in order to know and to love God, to do good according to his will, and to go someday to heaven.

God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” -1 Timothy 2:4

To be a human being means to come from God and to go to God. Our origin goes back farther than our parents. We come from God, in whom all happiness of heaven and earth is at home, and we are expected in his everlasting, infinite blessedness. Meanwhile we live on this earth. Sometimes we feel that our Creator is near; oftentimes we do not feel his presence. So that we might find the way home, God sent us his Son, who freed us from sin, delivers us from all evil, and leads us unerringly into true life. He is “the way, and the truth, and the life” Jn 14:6.

You cannot imagine at all how much  you interest God; he is interested in you as if there were no one else on earth.” -Julien Green

Why did God create us?

When man loves, his heart overflows. He would like to share his joy with others. He gets this from his Creator. Although God is a mystery, we can still think about him in a human way and say: Out of the “surplus” of his love he created us. He wanted to share his endless joy with us, who are creatures of his love.

“God is love.” -1Jn 4:16b

The measure of love is love without measure.” -St. Francis of Sales

Forty days of Lent: What it Means to Me

Hello Everyone! 🙂

Today I went to Sunday church Mass, even on this cloudy day it still felt good to go. I was kind of afraid it might rain but it did not, it was cloudy and cold February day. I did not care if it was raining, I still would of gone to church Mass.
Today is the first day of Lent which reminds me of the importance of growing closer to God and to repent, to turn toward the Lord. I read the church bulletin after Mass, and learned that “to convert” means to turn toward.” To turn towards God and Jesus Christ. We have to turn our hearts towards God. Personally, this is something I have to work on because sometimes I feel like I am not yet fully connected with God and Jesus Christ. I am learning not to turn to negative people and things and more on God and Jesus.
I learned the hard way that praying and turning to Jesus is essential in order to have faith in Him and have Him in your life because He is the Savior.
Will you give up something these 40 days of Lent?
Me I will only give up thinking negative thoughts and always be surrounded with happiness, positivity, faith, and hope. I want to make these forty days and beyond, the best years of my life. I want to feel God’s presence in my life.

Why Do We Seek God?

Hello Everyone :-)!

Why do we seek God? This is something that I have come to ask myself sometimes when I would not have enough knowledge about God and the bible.

image

And I bet many of you ask yourselves, or in the past have asked this question also. The reason I seek God is because I want to feel close to Him, I want to have a close relationship with God because I believe that He is my Savior, the one who saved me from the loneliness I was feeling.

image

God has placed in our hearts a longing to seek and find Him. St Agustine says, “You have made us for yourself, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” We call this longing for God Religion.”

image

It is natural for us to seek God, to seek the true, genuine love He has for all of us. We seek God when we are trying to make our dreams come true and finding the happiness that we really need in our life. Someone who supports us wholeheartedly.

A person is not completely himself until he has found God.”

“Anyone who seeks truth seeks God, whether or not he realizes it.” -St. Edith Stein

Motivational Quotes for Today

Hello Everyone :-)!

Hope you have all had a great weekend, mine as always was relaxing and busy at the same time 🙂 which I like because it keeps me from not getting bored.

I know how sometimes we wish our life were easy and simple with no problems, worries, or tribulations invading us.

But thank God there are quotes that exist in this world to motivate us to keep on holding on to the Spirit of Jesus Christ and His Father God.

Here are some quotes that I found really motivational:

” God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” -1Tim 2:4

” You cannot imagine at all how much you interest God; he is interested in you as if there were no one else on earth.” -Julien Green (French writer)

” One must know man and human things in order to love them. One must love God and divine things in order to know them.” -Blaise Pascal ( French mathematician, and philosopher)

“God is love.” -1 Jn 4:16b

” The measure of love is love without measure.” -St. Francis of Sales. (Distinguished bishop, brilliant spiritual guide, founder of the religious community, and Doctor of the church)

You Are My God

Hello Everyone :-)!

I want to share with you a poem that I wrote this Summer during my trip to Steubenville in San Diego with my church youth group. It was a three day weekend full of fun and celebration of how God is joy and true happiness. As a catholic I have come to realize that I need Him more than ever.

image

You are my God,
My Savior
The one who rescued me
From the dark hole
That I was stuck in.
Like a little girl,
I was scared and lost.

You are my God,
My Savior
The one who rescued me
From the deep wide
Sea of loneliness and doubt.

You are my God,
You shine a light
On my darkest days,
Your words of comfort
Renew my mind and soul,
They give me the confidence
That I truly need.
Faith in you is all I need,
Nothing else.

You are my God,
My only true friend.
Nothing else can compare
To the immense love You
Have for us all.
Even though we sometimes
Shy away from your love,
You amazingly never cease
To give up on us.
You only know,
That deep inside of us
There is this huge love
That we have for You
That will never fade.

You are my God.
You are my Savior.

My Sunday Mass Experience

Hello Everyone! 🙂

I always like going to Sunday Church Mass at the beautiful St. Angela Merici church in Brea, California; although I live in La Habra, It still is not far from where I live which is great because eversince I took my first communion and confirmation class when I was 20 years old (yeah did not do it when I was a young girl) I wanted to choose a church were I would belong and feel a part of it, and at the same time grow on my Catholic faith, and Jesus more, so upon discovering the Sunday Mass services at St. Angela Merici, I discovered that the services are so full of joy, hope, and faith. Their music during mass always give me a sence of peace and joy. The speeches from the Deacons always make me think and reflect deeply on my own life, and what I can do to improve the next time.

image

I used to think that Sunday Church Masses were rather boring and would make me fall asleep, but now I truly try to focus on the Mass activities and on Jesus because He is the sole reason why I am still living and will not let go off me, no matter what.
